Elevate Your Game with Jordan United Soccer Academy

Welcome to Jordan United Soccer Club, my name is Muhamed Kladnjak and I am the founder of Jordan United Soccer Academy. I am 48 years old. I moved to the United States in 1997 from Bosnia & Herzegovina when I was 20 years old. Soccer is in my blood. I have been playing soccer since I moved to walk. I joined a club when I was 12 years old in the 4th year of the Yugoslavian league. I played until I was 15 when the war broke out. That was the end of my career as a potential professional soccer player which was my dream. During those three years I ran into some bad coaches and some great coaches which helped me a lot to understand what kids are going through in their minds. After the war I played soccer whenever and wherever I could. I still play to this day whenever I get a chance. I also watch soccer whenever I can. Every league I can. It is the most important hobby I have. I am the third generation of soccer players in my family. My father was the only one who reached the top level and was able to play professionally which helps me understand the other side of those who succeeded, Because he was successful and I was a failure. I am married and have two children. a 14 year old boy and a 12 year old girl. My 14 year old boy is a very talented soccer player and him and his teammates are the reason I started Jordan United. I didn’t know much about how the leagues and clubs here in the States work. So we did some research and found a club. My son played in that club for about a year before Coronavirus hit. There were only two kids after Corona who were attending practices. We ended up joining another club after that season was over. He was 9 years old at the time. We stayed at that club for two years until his team broke apart. Some teammates quit, some went to other clubs, and some went to play other sports. During those two years he couldn’t wait for practices and games. The coach was great, which was a very rare find. After his team separated we had the option to move to a different club but he didn’t like the coach. We signed him up for tryouts at one big club and he got accepted to an E64 league, which is one step lower than the MLS Next league. He was very happy and so was I. One month after being accepted my son didn’t want to go to practices anymore and I was shocked. He plays soccer in his backyard everyday and all of a sudden he didn’t want to go practice anymore. I started attending practices to see what was happening and I didn’t see any issues. My son was 12 years old and he didn’t know how to tell me what was going on but he was being bullied. He didn’t want to wake up to go to school just because he had practice after school. I don’t want to go into too many details but I have seen other kids crying during practice when I was attending them. This was one of the first times I saw something was wrong. All of those kids and his teammates were very talented and great players with a lot of potential. A lot of them went to lesser leagues or quit the sport entirely. My son ended up going to a lesser league with his previous coach just to get his confidence back. Some kids who left the E64 league are still dealing with psychological trauma. Those 5 years watching my son play I have seen a lot of terrible things. Bullying, blaming, yelling, telling the kid what to do while they have the ball at their feet. All of the coaches are teaching the kids the same thing, over and over and over again. Be physical be physical be physical which is so wrong. 99 percent of the time it’s a foul if you’re physical and a lot of the time kids will end up hurt. This is not American Football or Rugby. This is the beautiful game of soccer. I will be teaching the kids speed and brain. Beating the opponent to the ball and what to do with the ball once you have it. I opened the club last year after my son quit E64 but we didn’t have enough players to make a team so I signed him up with his previous coach now turned assistant. The assistant coach has no say in anything really. He is just there to pick up balls, get the cones etc. He has no influence during the practices and the games. This new coach was better than the E64 coach but still struggled. All of these clubs we’ve been to and all of these coaches I have seen they want to be the highlight. They want to show off and are full of ego. This year I posted the price and it is astronomical. The reason for that is so I can pay myself, my bills and be fully committed to the kids. So far I only have one player signed up so I found another solution for the sake of all these kids who want to be soccer players when they grow up or who just want to have a hobby. I am going to be waiving the club fee. There is no club fee this year and if you like what you see after some time we will take donations.I am going to need the parents help. I am looking for Parents who have some soccer experience to coach the kids with our philosophy. I will be there as much as I can to help until I can be fully committed and coach them full time. Our philosophy is for all the coaches to make sure that kids are number 1. The coach's time has passed and it is the kids' future we are working towards. I want you to help them. I will be helping them with all of the experience I have gained over the years. Soccer is a beautiful simple game for everyone but somehow here in Utah they are complicating so much. For example every practice is a different drill and by the time the kids figure out how to do the drill more than half of the practice is gone and the kids don’t even work up a sweat because coaches spend so much time explaining how the drill is done. You or me as a coach, we have an obligation to make the teammates best friends and when a teammate loses the ball the other teammates will do everything in their power to save him from their mistake, and that is what creates friendship for life. All for one and one for all. After all, it is a team game. When some kids make mistakes you must give the kids your full support because mistakes will happen. This is their game and we need to build them up and teach them. During the games the coaches will not be in the spotlight because it’s the kids game. The only spotlight the coach will be given is supporting and cheering on the kids during the game. Or be quiet and no yelling. That’s what makes a good coach and that is our philosophy. If we are able to create bonds between players and coaches then we know we are doing it right. We are going to teach them to play the beautiful game of soccer and fair play. When our player accidentally hurts another kid (which will happen) he needs to go up and support the injured player and apologize which is very rare to see. This is important because that kid on the ground is someone's son or daughter. Some kids will be better than others and our job as coaches will have better players in our team than even our own kids. Don’t ever try to hide that child's talent by any means (putting him out of position or benching him).If you as a parent see that your coach is doing something wrong, I want you to contact me immediately and we as coaches should know that it’s so good to have better players than our own kids. They have someone to look up to and a rival to beat. If someone sees that the teammates don’t want to pass the ball to a kid who is better than them due to jealousy I need to know because I know exactly what to say to them so the friendship will not be broken. It is not an easy job to be a coach, you must observe and know each kid individually (their strengths, weaknesses, loves, and hates). Some kids need more support than others. Some need to be pushed. Every kid is different. At the end of the day it is pretty simple. We as coaches need to create an ambience where they can’t wait for training day or game day. With that kind of ambience they can work hard because they will be inspired. They will be getting advice and tasks to do at home (about 15-20 minutes). At home they will improve their skills quicker and faster because there's no one around to judge them. This is the key. Those who do the training at home have the character, potential and desire to become a professional player when they grow up. I will give them everything that I know to make sure that their dreams come true. I will promise you that those talented players with character and hard work in a few years will be called to play for the U.S. national team, which has never happened inside of Utah, which is a shame because there is so much talent here. Not a single player to be called to the U.S. national team in the 30 years I have been here even with all of the talent is a real shame. Not only did Utah never create a U.S. National Player. They have never created a professional player either. If I never had my son I would have never known why. It’s not just Utah. It’s everywhere, soccer is seriously struggling right now. Look up how many 36+ year olds are still playing professionally because we are not creating anymore young talents due to inflated egos and lack of patience. Some of the best talent in Utah quit by the age of 15. If you have a kid that has a dream to become a soccer player when he grows up and he quit for good and you don’t even know why, give me a call and I can talk to him to give him his hope and confidence back because that is what I needed at that age and I didn’t have that. If we don’t have enough kids by the time tryouts start and you want your kid to have extra practices and scrimmages you can give me a call or send me an email and I will organize those events. even if they are playing for another club. It is good for your child and mine as well. I will contact all of you who signed up so you have enough time to sign your kid up to another club. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I wish you and your kids the best of luck.
